A shack at Coke Hill is threatened by flood waters on April 15, 1927, near the mouth of the Poteau River. Coke Hill was a shanty town at Belle Point in Fort Smith close to where the Poteau and Arkansas rivers meet. Belle Point was the site of the first Fort Smith. Notice the line of clothes hanging to dry on a line between the outhouse and the shack.
